It doesn’t matter if you call them a “RIT”, “FAST" or “GO” team. The objective is still the same - Firefighter Safety. It is THE most important aspect of every emergency response and no fire scene should be without a capable and efficient Rapid Intervention Team.
In 2003, the Mahanoy City Fire Department officially implemented its department-wide Rapid Intervention Team (RIT).
Our team is comprised of a mix of state-certified and experienced firefighters as well as support personnel from within the Mahanoy City Fire Department. The team utilizes the West End Fire & Rescue Company’s heavy rescue (Rescue 993).
If your department already has a Rapid Intervention Team implemented into your responses, you are to be commended for moving forward and doing everything you can to insure YOUR firefighters’ safe return home at the end of a response. If you would like more information on our RIT Team, please do not hesitate to contact us.
